Why I Choose Not to Show my Face on Camera
When I started Homeaway Saskia, I knew it would be a quiet space—an escape from the noise, both literal and visual. I wanted it to feel like a breath of fresh air, where viewers could slow down, notice the little things, and simply be. Choosing not to show my face on camera was a very intentional part of creating that space.
We live in a world where faces are everywhere. Every platform, every scroll, every frame seems to ask for more of us—more expression, more personality, more performance. But Homeaway Saskia isn’t about performance. It’s about presence. About being fully in a moment, without distraction.
When you don’t see a face, your attention shifts. You start to notice the sound of boiling water, the way sunlight falls across a table, the texture of a linen curtain moving in the breeze. The ordinary becomes beautiful. And that’s what I want to share—beauty in simplicity, in quiet moments, in daily rituals.
Keeping my face out of the frame also protects a part of myself. It creates a boundary that allows me to be open and creative without feeling exposed. It keeps the focus on the environment, not the individual. In many ways, it’s an act of respect—for myself, and for you. I want you to feel like you could step into these moments, not just observe mine.
This choice isn’t about hiding; it’s about revealing something else. A different way of seeing. A slower rhythm. A shared stillness.
Thank you for being here, for watching with open eyes, and for embracing the beauty of what isn’t always shown.
With warmth,
Saskia
